These images are from photographer
Malcolm Kirk who spent over 13 years traveling the South Pacific. This collection is from his hardcover book called "MAN AS ART" documenting Papa New Guinea islanders' stunning tribal body decorations and carved masks. The images are merely aesthetical, how they decorate themselves for social gatherings without a specific cultural message. Kirk mostly wanted to capture their creative form of individual expression.
Beautiful images, sad to know that their way of life is so threatened by the clear cutting of the rainforests in Papua New Guinea by foreign corporations :(
ReplyDeleteThese are incredible and definitely creative. The ability to admire and create beauty has to be one of man's best qualities.
